Jane O’Reilly

As she was winding up a long career as a writer and reporter, Jane O’Reilly began drawing and painting. (Her sister is a noted portrait painter.) O’Reilly bought a little watercolor set and some brushes on the day of her last big writing job, and shortly after moved to East Boston. She met Ejay Khan, who was painting a mural on the Greenway, and following their discussion applied for a studio space at 80 Border Street. She has “treasured that space sporadically and rather selfishly” ever since, “lots of failed ideas, experiments, crumpled paper piling up inside”. She likes watercolors and printmaking, “the weird, unexpected ways to make pictures…so hard to choose between black and white, and so many colors.”
